Two dry stone retaining walls, constructed from old foundation stones, built on each side of a walk out basement. The walls were designed concave and gently sloped to match the grade, so that the soils could be placed on top of the wall (I’ve yet to photograph the finished product). This has the effect of making the wall fit seamlessly into the landscape (mimics an outcropping) and adds mass to the top of the wall (masonry loves compression).
