Stone Monuments – Mary’s Point Shorebird Reserve

Fundy Stonecraft was contracted by Canada Wildlife Service to create two monuments that translate an existing English monument into French and Mi’kmaq. The new monuments were intended to compliment the original monument (sculpted by David Watson), signify the landscape as a critical shorebird habitat, and to interpret the historical human activity of quarrying in the area. The design outline below (written with Alice Fudge Design) describes the inspiration, logic, and methodology of the design.
